Let’s put our etymology hats on. “Temporo” refers to the temporal bone and temporal of your brain. In other words it means the left and right sides of your skull. Maybe you have heard of the “temple”, the soft spot in front of your ear. “Mandibular” means “mandible”, which just means jaw. So now we know that TMD is a disease that affects the joint connecting your jaw to your head. Not too difficult to grasp, right? Well, if only it were not so difficult to live with.
